Inspired by the alphabet, Hilary Lewis works with all aspects of calligraphy and lettering and has a lifelong interest in writing, formal scripts and patterns.

Hilary is a graduate of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators’ (SSI) Advanced Training Scheme, and the Calligraphy Correspondence Course. Hilary holds the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (CLAS) Intermediate Diploma which is the recognised standard required for teaching calligraphy.

An English Literature degree at Worcester University was followed by an apprenticeship at ABC Typesetting. Hilary underwent further post-graduate training from the London College of Communication and is still enjoys combining publishing with hand lettering today.

Artwork has been exhibited with CLAS at the British Library, by the SSI at York Minster and King’s College, London and several venues in the North West of England. We hope you enjoy this carousel of retrospective work.
